Boat tours in the Lofoten Islands
A Lofoten boat tour shows you the coast from the water. The most popular trip is the cruise into the narrow Trollfjord, which leaves from Svolvær. Smaller RIB boats offer fast sea eagle safaris, and a half-day fishing trip gives you a rod and a place on deck.
Seasons differ. The Trollfjord cruise runs from 1 February to 31 October, while the RIB and fishing trips run almost all year. Prices below are adult prices and can change.

Our picks: boat tours
Our take: the electric ship is the calm Trollfjord trip with heated cabins; the RIB safari is faster and looks for sea eagles; the fishing cruise gives you gear and rain clothing.

The Trollfjord cruise from Svolvær
The Trollfjord is a narrow fjord with steep walls. The cruise leaves from Svolvær and takes 3 to 4 hours. Meet at the main square 15 minutes before departure. The boat has a heated indoor area and toilets. Food is extra, and the crew does not feed animals.
The adult fare is NOK 1,490. Children, students and the youngest guests pay less, so check the rate for your age group when you book. Sea eagles are possible but not guaranteed. The season ends at the end of October.

RIB sea eagle safaris and the fishing trip
Shorter, faster and more active.
RIB sea eagle safari
Adults pay NOK 1,350 and children NOK 895 for about 2 hours, from age 8. Arrive 30 minutes before departure. A flotation suit, life jacket and goggles are included. Pregnant women and people with back problems are advised not to join.
RIB Trollfjord and sea eagle safari
The 2 hour safari runs all year. Adults pay NOK 1,095 and children aged 8 to 17 pay NOK 795. Meet at 9:00 a.m. at Sjømannsgata 5 in Svolvær for a 9:30 a.m. departure.
Fishing trip
The 4 hour trip starts at 9:00 a.m., with check-in at 8:45 a.m. in Svolvær. Adults pay NOK 1,095, children aged 0 to 17 pay NOK 695, and a family of two adults and two children pays NOK 2,795. Fishing gear, protective clothing, a life jacket and filleting are included. A catch is not guaranteed.
Weather, wildlife and what to bring
The operator cancels the Trollfjord cruise when conditions are uncertain and offers a rebooking or a refund. Not every rain forecast leads to a cancellation. Wind and sea state matter more on small boats, so check the terms of any tour before you pay.
Sea eagles are a hope, not a promise. Wear warm layers, windproof clothing and a hat even in summer. On a RIB you wear the supplied suit. If you want to see the fjord from land too, look at the things to do page for villages and viewpoints.

How to choose a boat tour
Three questions settle it for most travelers.
What month is it?
From November to January only the RIB and the fishing trip run, since the Trollfjord cruise ends with October and restarts on 1 February. In summer all four are available.
Best time to visit →How long do you want to be out?
A RIB trip is about 2 hours. The cruise takes 3 to 4 hours, and the fishing trip takes 4. Morning departures at 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. leave the afternoon free for a hike or a drive on the E10.
How do you reach Svolvær?
Svolvær has flights to Bodø, and the regional bus 300 connects Å, Leknes, Svolvær and Narvik. The ferry from Bodø lands at Moskenes in the south, so plan the drive north if you book a morning trip.
